Coach Core Awards: 2025
NHNE were honoured to be nominated at the National Coach Core Awards, 2025! Our CEO, Elizabeth, travelled down to London to attend the prestigious ceremony – which celebrates the work of apprentices, employers and coaches. We are proud to support our young apprentice, and it was a privilege to be recognised alongside the other organisations who do fantastic work.
Christmas Party: 2024
NHNE celebrated the festive period with our popular annual Christmas Party! Families, volunteers and staff came together to enjoy a disco, party games, and delicious food. There was even a visit from Santa himself, who delivered gifts and treats to our members. Our annual parties offer families an opportunity to make new friends, relax and socialise in a safe and welcoming environment.
Christmas Fair: 2024
On 23rd November, NHNE hosted a Christmas Fair at St Peter’s Church Hall, South Shields. Despite the stormy weather, families and local people came together to enjoy stalls, raffles, and refreshments. The children also had a fantastic time playing together on the bouncy castle and having their faces painted. There was even a visit from Santa himself! We were able to raise much needed funds for our organisation, which will help us to continue our work supporting local families with disabled children and young people.
Visit from the Mayor and Mayoress: 2024
In August, we were honoured to host the Mayor and Mayoress of South Tyneside at our offices at Trinity House Social Centre. This was a fantastic opportunity for parents/carers and staff to share the work NHNE does – as well as discuss the challenges we face and our aspirations for the future. We were delighted to spend time highlighting ways we can improve the lives of local families, and we’re proud to continue working alongside our local authority in serving our community.
Ocean Road Mela: 2024
NHNE were delighted to host a stall at this year’s Ocean Road Mela! It was a wonderful celebration of people and culture, and we had a great time meeting new people, increasing awareness of our cause, and raising money for the organisation.
#LoveSouthTyneside Awards 2024
New Hope North East are proud to be the winners of two #LoveSouthTyneside Awards at this year’s ceremonyOn 11th July 2024, the team at New Hope attended the annual #LoveSouthTyneside Awards ceremony at The Customs House. The awards celebrate civic pride and community spirit across South Tyneside, and recognise individuals and organisations that go the extra mile to help people in the local community. The New Hope team were honoured to receive the Supporting Others award, which celebrates people who volunteer their time to support people in times of need.
Our founder and CEO, Elizabeth Sunduzwayo, also received the Above and Beyond award – which celebrates those who bring something extra special to their job that is recognised by customers and colleagues. Speaking of Elizabeth’s win, the #LoveSouthTyneside awards team wrote, “the judges wanted us to celebrate Elizabeth’s role in creating a place where all children are loved, valued, safeguarded, and treated equally with dignity regardless of their disability. Elizabeth plays a key role in helping them thrive in a safe world free from segregation, marginalisation, deprivation, and social exclusion”.
We are delighted to have received these two awards in acknowledgement of everyone’s hard work, commitment, and determination to improve the lives of local children and young people. Well done and congratulations to Elizabeth, and our staff and volunteers at New Hope North East who’ve dedicated their time and energy!
South Tyneside Summer Parade: 2024
As a community-led organisation, we love to get involved in events across South Tyneside. In July, NHNE members, volunteers, and staff took to the streets of South Shields to join in the South Tyneside Summer Parade. We had lots of fun representing our organisation in the local community, and showing off the fabulous hats our children and young people created for the occasion!
