Our Past Activities
Chinese New Year: 2025
NHNE welcomed in the Year of the Snake with some slithery and furry friends. We had a fantastic time learning all about the different animals, and some of us were brave enough to hold them, too! We also got crafty and made our very own springy snakes to take home.
Online Arts and Crafts: January 2025
Our children and young people have been busy making wintery crafts online! Take a look at their amazing polar bears and penguins below.
Autumn Arts and Crafts: 2024
Take a look below at some of the autumnal arts and crafts we’ve been making in our online activity sessions.
King's Project Arts and Crafts: 2024
Our children and young people have been working hard creating beautiful artwork, and writing stories and poems, all about King Charles III. This is part of our ongoing ‘King’s Project’, where our members have been learning about the Royal Family, and the transition from Queen to King. Take a look at some of the amazing work we’ve been doing below!
Beach Trip to South Shields 2024
What’s summer without a trip to the beach? On Friday 2 nd August 2024, the New Hope community put on our suncream and headed down to South Shields beach for an afternoon of sun, sea and sand! Children, parents, volunteers and staff all came together to enjoy the sunshine and scenery of our beautiful local coast. We played ball games, swam in the waves, built sandcastles, and enjoyed relaxing on our picnic blankets. We even enjoyed a delicious ice cream to finish off the day!
Online Family Cooking: 2024
On Friday 26 th July 2024, our families, volunteers and staff members came together online to cook a delicious and healthy family meal from the comfort of their own kitchens! Our fabulous sessional worker, Aidevo, led a group video call with children, young people and their families. Together, they created tasty ‘Native Inspired Fried Rice’ dishes – and the results were fantastic! The children and young people were able to develop valuable food safety and culinary skills, as well as have fun spending quality time with their families and the wider New Hope community.
Summer Activities 2024
New Hope North East members enjoyed a variety of inclusive summer activities. The children and young people kicked off the summer holidays with two summer games afternoons, playing a variety of inclusive sports and games. Together, the children, staff and volunteers had fun keeping active and enjoying the good weather in the grounds of our offices! We also visited Dunes Arcade in South Shields for an afternoon of bowling and arcade games. The children, staff, and volunteers had a fantastic time playing against each other – and we even scored a few strikes! To finish off the day, we enjoyed delicious fish and chips by the sea.
